Frequently Asked Questions

Why a Chicana/Latina Sorority?
A significant portion of Chicana/Latina students on campus are first-generation Americans or the first in their families to pursue higher education. They’ve had to overcome traditional cultural and historical barriers just to reach college campuses. However, the challenge doesn’t end there; staying here presents its own set of difficulties. With a relatively low Chicana/Latina population on campus, it’s crucial for us to support each other in navigating this new environment where it’s easy to feel lost. Sigma Pi Alpha Sorority, Inc. provides a familiar and supportive network for our sisters, offering a sense of belonging and solidarity to help us thrive.

Who can become a sister of Sigma Pi Alpha Sorority, Inc.?
Any college student can join Sigma! Our founding mothers envisioned a sisterhood not based on appearances or backgrounds, but on trust and understanding. They created a space where any student who resonates with the ideals of Sigma Pi Alpha Sorority, Inc. is welcome to join. While predominantly a Chicana/Latina sorority, we do not discriminate against anyone interested in becoming a sister. Sigma Pi Alpha Sorority, Inc. embraces individuals who share our goals and values, extending our invitation to all who align with our sorority’s purpose.
