Why a Chicana/Latina Sorority?
Many of the Chicana/Latina students on campus are 1st generation Americans and/or are the 1st in their family to attend higher education. To get to any college campus traditional cultural and historical obstacles had to be overcome. But the “getting here” is not always the most difficult part; staying here is. With the relatively low Chicana/Latina population here on campus it is important for Chicana/Latina’s to help each other survive in this new atmosphere where it is easy to get lost. Sigma Pi Alpha creates a familiarity and support system for its members.

They created a sisterhood where any college student that shares the same ideals as Sigma Pi Alpha Sorority, Inc. could join.
Although a predominately Chicana/Latina Sorority, Sigma Pi Alpha Sorority, Inc. does not discriminate against anyone who is interested in becoming a sister. Sigma Pi Alpha opens its doors to anyone who shares the same goals and purposes and that of our sorority.
